Rachel is a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator!
Recently nominated for Educator of the Year, and being voted as Regional Winner for the Illawarra Coast! What an achievement, we are so proud!
Rachel has run her own FDC for 10 years now, so is an absolute wealth of knowledge. Engaging wth local support services where needed.
Rachel and her husband Jono are parents to three boys of their own, who often pop their heads into the FDC to see what is happening.
Outings and Community Connections
Miss Rachel and the children attend playgroups and functions at the library and local school. They contributed their first collaborative art piece to the Milton Show this year and won! They collect Lids for Kids and participate in lots of charity days ie: The Biggest Morning Tea, The Muddy Puddle Walk and Jeans for Genes. Rachel has a focus on involving the children in the community and where possible, involve the community with the children because as they say, it takes a village to raise a child.
Program and Practice
Rachel incorporates Mindfulness, Yoga and STEM activities in her weekly program and has a fantastic School Readiness program. Rachel aims to provide a balance between structured learning and free play, offering all the same learning and social experiences as centre based care in a relaxed home environment.
Rachel will often have calming music and quality essential oils diffusing in the home to welcome parents and children. We all know how busy it can be trying to get out the door on time, so walking into Rachel’s is almost like walking into a day spa. Warm and inviting at the very least!
Continued Professional Development
Rachel is truly committed to her professional development, believing that her education did not stop at Tafe once she completed her Early childhood studies. Rachel has gone on to increase her knowledge base by regularly attending workshops and webinars. Rachel has a thirst for continued pedagogical knowledge. We love this about her!
Big Hearted Care
Rachel provides nappies, linen and a wonderful weekly menu of delicious and nutritious foods. All home made with thought given to local and seasonal produce. The children enjoy things such as risotto, lasagne, slow-cooked lamb and vegetables, fried rice, smoothies, yoghurt, custard, fresh fruits and vegetables, dips, bliss balls, muffins and nice-creams (made from frozen fruit with no hidden nasties!) The children benefit from a wide variety of fresh foods that are lovingly prepared for them and are often involved in the cooking and menu planning processes.
This is all a part of Rachel’s natural urge to care for everyone around her. Big Hearted Care at it’s very best!
